Learning Objectives

Priorities: ๐Ÿฅš, ๐Ÿฃ, ๐Ÿฅ, ๐Ÿ” (click to learn more)

There is a lot to learn in this repository. If you can't master all the material
at once, that's expected! Anything you don't master now will always be waiting
for you to review when you need it. These 4 emoji's will help you prioritize
your study time and to measure your progress:

  • ๐Ÿฅš: Understanding this material is required, it covers the base skills you'll
need for this module and the next. You do not need to finish all of them but
should feel comfortable that you could with enough time.
  • ๐Ÿฃ: You have started all of these exercises and feel you could complete them
all if you just had more time. It may not be easy for you but with effort you
    can make it through.
  • ๐Ÿฅ: You have studied the examples and started some exercises if you had time.
You should have a big-picture understanding of these concepts/skills, but may
not be confident completing the exercises.
  • ๐Ÿ”: These concepts or skills are not necessary but are related to this module.
If you are finished with ๐Ÿฅš, ๐Ÿฃ and ๐Ÿฅ you can use the ๐Ÿ” exercises to push
yourself without getting distracted from the module's main objectives.

1. Design Thinking

  • ๐Ÿฅš User Empathy: You understand what user empathy is, and can use it
to understand a classmate's needs and help them plan a home page.
  • ๐Ÿฅš Design Cycle: You will be able to describe the design cycle and
what steps you will take in each state (Empathize, define, ideate,
    prototype, testing and implement).
  • ๐Ÿฅš Double Diamond: You can separate the design and deliver phases of a
project. Design and delivery are a never-ending cycle, but it helps to be
clear when you are focusing one or the other.
  • ๐Ÿฅš Stakeholder Interviews: You can interview another student to learn
    their motivations, needs, and blocks
  • ๐Ÿฅš Rapid Prototyping: You can use rapid prototyping techniques (such
as paper prototyping) to test initial design hypotheses and receive user
    feedback.
  • ๐Ÿฅš User Journeys: You can write user journeys for websites that you
    use.

2. Gestalt Principles

  • ๐Ÿฅš Design Principles: You can apply some of the key design principles
to your own site, such as alignment, proximity, contrast, balance and
    space.
  • ๐Ÿฃ CSS: You can use CSS3 to implement responsive & accessible designs.

3. Collaborative Design Softwares

  • ๐Ÿฅš Figma: You can create, share and collaborate on a website design
    using Figma.

4. Accessibility

  • ๐Ÿฅš Accessible Design: You will be able to make a website design more
    accessible.
  • ๐Ÿฃ Screen Readers: You can navigate a web page using a screen reader,
and can use semantic elements and ARIA labels to make your web pages
    accessible.
  • I have pushed my progress to my fork of exercises repo
