Apparently github has a process for detaching a fork and becomes standalone (
https://help.github.com/en/articles/why-are-my-contributions-not-showing-up-on-my-profile#commit-was-made-in-a-fork ) for the cases where upstream aren't active, etc.
This might be appropriate; though at the moment there is no obvious benefit in either direction.

would be nice at least acknowledge this is really not the original MS-abandoned project anymore.
