Background and Summary
The registry of profiles is a list of URIs to different metadata formats which can be referenced in a IIIF Manifest. This could be in the seeAlso (as seen in this recipe):
"seeAlso": [
{
"id": "https://fixtures.iiif.io/other/UCLA/ezukushi_mods.xml",
"type": "Dataset",
"label": { "en": ["MODS metadata" ]},
"format": "text/xml",
"profile": "http://www.loc.gov/mods/v3"
}]
or other places where you want to reference an external resource and the format is not enough to identify the file.
Proposed Solution
This issue is to add ALTO as one of the values to the registry for use in linking to OCR metadata. This is in use in the Newspaper Recipe.
