seaborn-white has been renamed to seaborn-v0_8-white in certain versions of matplotlib -- we should update the reference or fix the version pin or otherwise work around this in a more clever way

also, matplotlib.cm.get_cmap has been retired in favor of matplotlib.pyplot.get_cmap
