To Be completed for all benchmarks

Is the new benchmark computational or experimental?

  • Computational
  • [] Experimental

Is this a MultiTest or a normal Test?

Normal test

Give a concise description of the benchmark

This is a 1-D cylindrical geometry representing the U.S. Fusion Energy Systems Studies (FESS) Fusion Nuclear Science Facility (FNSF). The FESS-FNSF system is a tokamak and uses a dual cooled lead lithium (DCLL) blanket. This benchmark is documented in G. Schnabel et al., Nuclear Data Sheets, 2024
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0090375224000012

Does the benchmark need new types of plots?

No new plot types are needed.

Can the benchmark be used for all codes implemented in JADE or for a specific subset?

Currently an MCNP input file exists. An OpenMC file should be able to be created from the MCNP input file with a small amount of effort.

Can inputs of this benchmark be freely re-distributed?

  • yes
  • [] no

Additional information/context

A simple bash script to extract the necessary tallies is available for the MCNP output file.

Thanks Tim for opening this!

Do you plan to add this benchmark yourself? (or one of your students?)
if not, could you attach here the MCNP input file so that it will be available for whoever will try to implement it?

I will plan to add this benchmark but may have a summer student do this. It may take a bit of time as I need to attend to some other projects at the moment.

Thanks Tim for the FESS-FNSF MCNP input file. Is there a CSG MCNP model for the benchmark? I can try to create and OpenMC file from it.
