Definition of RIP?

Hi,@Jack-CV! Can you explain how you define the concept of RIP(rotation-in-plane) for different conditions such as side face and front face (e.g. how do you know whether a face's angular is exactly 51 degree)? Any formular?

Hi, @geyongtao. We use the images only containing upright faces as our training images(left part in the figure), and rotate them to the rotation-in-plane(RIP) angle we want, the rotation angle is the rotate angular label(right part of in the figure).

Thanks for your kindly reply! In WIDER FACE, the pose label is defined as:

  • typical pose->0
  • atypical pose->1

Do you mean that you use all the typical pose face as training set? Otherwise, do you do extra job to clean the database?

@geyongtao Yes, I use all the typical pose face as training set. Moreover, I discard the tiny faces (e.g less than 12 pixels), because the tiny faces are too blurred.

@Jack-CV That helps, thank you!
