Introduction

Tutor Collective is a collaborative project to build the world's best way to find great tutors. The project is sponsored by TechCareerHQ and is intended to enable people to learn web development by being a part of the building a great product. You don't need any prior programming experience to contribute, just a willingness to find the best solution to the problems that you encounter. Please follow the instructions below.

We hope to use this project to teach you how to become an engineer that can excel in a tech company.

Getting Started

You need the following:

  • Ruby 1.9.3
  • GitHub account / git
  • an IDE like SublimeText

For a quick install of a development setup we recommend BitNami. But, we have also attached manual instructions Setup Instructions. If you need additional help please feel free to contact us at my@techcareerhq.com and we will help you get set up.

##Contribution Instructions We do our best to fully describe the features and bug fixes that need to be implemented. If you have any questions about the specifics of a requirement, let us know. To contribute we suggest you fork and send pull requests and instructions of how to do this can be found here

  1. Fork our branch
  2. Clone the new repository
  3. Pick an issue and code one of our features or bugs
  4. Submit a pull request
    • Please use consistent naming conventions as outlined below to help use keep track of the pull requests
    • Example: F10.3 - Fixed login authetnication system

##Legend Our issues page contains labels to identify type of coding you have to do, a difficulty level from 1 star to 5 stars, and a key to keep track of the issues.

  • F - Feature
  • B - Bug
  • e.g. F - Page Title (A feature for the page title)
  • e.g. B - Button margin issue (a bug fix for a button margin)

###Design Guidelines The color palette for the overall site is available here: http://www.colourlovers.com/palette/3087487/BlueC We'll try to use these colors whenver possible. For calls to action or other elements that require a color outside of the palette, we'll defer to Boostrap's default button styles
