Middle mouse button pastes at text cursor, not at mouse location

I frequently mess up my notebooks because the middle mouse button, which in Linux pastes selected text at where the mouse is located, instead pastes the text where the text cursor is. The video below shows the problem, I select the text and then press the middle mouse button (scroll wheel) in the cell below. Unfortunately, my screen recorder does not show my mouse, but I do press on the bottom cell.
