Strange calendar tracking behaviour

I'm using tempus on windows. I used it on the 19th for 2 sessions and took it a break on the 20th. Started back on the 21st today and did 4 sessions but all 6 sessions were logged on the 19th.
I hadn't closed it once I launched it on the 19th so I did that and saw that it jumped to the 20th now. I wasn't aware you had to close it to 'end' a day. However it's stuck on the 20th now and I can't get it to log my sessions to today so far.
