Github style line breaks?

Is there a way for me to utilize Github/StackOverflow style line breaks (single line break in source means single line break in output) instead of CommonMark standard? Explaining to my users they need to use two lines breaks in source to create one output line break is going to immediately lead to "Why?" Why indeed.
