Many test failures under Python 3.11

Hi,

Debian is trying to switch to Python 3.11. Unfortunately, when running unit tests under Python 3.11, the result is:
200 failed, 48 passed, 1 skipped, 1 xfailed, 217 warnings in 17.67s

Let's please fix this...

Looks like this PR fixes the issue: #426

I would be really awesome to have a new tag and release, so that it could be consumed in a nice way :)
