Use CMake?

Would it be helpful to anyone if CMake were used instead of GNU Make?

Actually, as I understand it, CMake is like a layer of abstraction on top of build tools, so it wouldn't really be "instead of" GNU Make, unless you have a build tool you like that's not GNU Make but is supported by CMake.
