Cannot add/see Avalanche account

Ledger's documentation clearly states: "Avalanche accounts cannot be added to Ledger Live". Any plans on changing this? AVAX is clearly a major asset right now and the Avalanche network is booming. It's far from ideal that one has to use 3rd party apps (Metamask or Avalanche Wallet) to manage their ledger-protected assets.
Note: this could be addressed generally by #4568 but I'd much rather have proper support for Avalanche in Live.
