@CommonClimate What needs to be run before Coherence?
I am not sure what you mean by that ; please clarify.
The main issue I see right now with this part of the notebook is the muddled terminology (see LinkedEarth/Pyleoclim_util#202) where we use xwt to mean wtc. It would be good for this notebook to showcase what both of these quantities do: xwt highlights areas of high common power (but not necessarily coherent behavior) while wtc can highlight areas of coherent behavior (but not necessarily high common power). Both have value, and most users would typically want both high wtc and high xwt. None of our tutorials presently illustrate this, and it would be nice to squeeze that into the notebook.
