SEMOSS stands for Semantic Open Source Software. SEMOSS is an open source application that allows users to solve challenging problems by uncovering and exploring connections in data, creating tailored insights, and running custom algorithms. SEMOSS can also be used to merge data from multiple databases (sources of information) into one location, allowing users to seamlessly modify and analyze their data to enhance their decision making processes.

SEMOSS started as a visualization and analytics tool for RDF data (semantic web) and has evolved over the past few years into a general purpose data analytics platform and app engine. Some of the key benefits of SEMOSS are:

  • Database generation for xSV (CSV, TSV, Excel)
  • Connectors to RDBMS, Graph, R Datatable and RDF databases
  • Connectors to NoSQL databases with any declarative query language
  • Connectors to API with full support for Google Drive, Google Sheets, Dropbox, Twitter, Google APIs
  • Blending across databases / hyperlinking data. Connect to multiple databases at the same time
  • Data preparation and analytics module integrated with visualization
  • Data and analytics versioning through Git (Integrated with GitHub)
  • A complete scriptable metalanguage to accommodate going across environments like R, Java, Python
