DotNest provides an SMTP server and thus you can send e-mails without any further ado. This is also documented here: https://dotnest.com/knowledge-base/topics/managed-by-dotnest-orchard-core However, make it more apparent also under the Orchard Core admin when editing SMTP settings (like with a warning notification) that while you can use custom SMTP settings, you don't need to.
