[repo][install][upgrade] Use linux-fsync-nobara-bin

Closed this issue · 1 comments

This Linux kernel is used by Bazzite and Nobara. It provides many features. What is most relevant to winesapOS (top 3):

  • Mac (Intel + T2) support
    • linux-fsync-nobara-bin would replace our linux-t2 kernel that we use today
  • Microsoft Surface support
    • We no longer need to install linux-surface during the first-time setup for touchscreen support
  • Steam Deck OLED support (still requires firmware files)

This would replace our linux-t2 kernel. Moving forward, we will contribute to this kernel in any way that we can.

One issue I ran into with removing linux-t2 is that tiny-dfr still pulls it in as a dependency. It is optional as it is used to configure the touchbar. The default behavior is to display the function keys.
