Hi Simon,
I would like to help you test this further, specifically the master/slave issue you mention. I couldn't see any other way to contact you (bit new to Github), so raising it as an issue.
I have a Brivis heater (and evap cooler), with an NC-6 controller and the wifi module. I run Home Assistant with some ESPHome modules (albeit simple ones).
I also have a spare NC-6 controller which I would be happy to lend you for testing. I see you are in Canberra as well.
