Should i run `autoreconf -i` as root?

Sorry I don't know much about the building process in general but seems to me that the only way to get autoreconf -i to work properly without libtoolize issues is running it as root.

Is this expected? if so please change it to sudo autoreconf -i in the readme.

That is definitely not expected. Only the install step should require root, unless you pick a prefix to a place where you are allowed to write with your current user.

It works for me, for example. (Although with some warnings)
