i cleared out my cash and addons folder to get rid of a bunch of old addons

but once i went back on gmod and tried loading a model. it wouldn't load
and if i tried loading from the history tab. id just get the HL2 low ammo warning noise

pretty sure this has to do with me clearing the addons but idk any hard fixes for this

Based on this Facepunch/garrysmod-issues#4373 and this Facepunch/garrysmod-issues#5543

  1. Clear download cache

Clear download cache

  1. Close steam
  2. Remove steamapps\common\GarrysMod\garrysmod\cache
  3. Remove steamapps\workshop\content\4000 AND MOST IMPORTANT also steamapps\workshop\appworkshop_4000.acf
  4. Start steam, verify Garry's Mod
  5. Run hl2.exe -factoryresetstuff (from steamapps\common\GarrysMod\FactoryReset-GMod.bat)
(may be optional but deletes cfg/config.cfg and possibly other things too)

i noticed that it still thinks there are addons in the cache

Hmm, additionally I recommend:

  1. Also delete steamapps\common\GarrysMod\garrysmod\data\cache

The count comes from steamapps/common/GarrysMod/garrysmod/cache/workshop/ (code) which should have been emptied in step 3. It does not count only outfitter addons, I should make that more clear.
