Would there be a way to show dead/flagged comments, just like on the website ? Potentially using a toggle in the settings or by syncing from my HN profile...

Unfortunately, the Hacker News API doesn't really allow us to configure that. The only way to implement this would be to scrape the website, and that is just not a realistic option for every load.
