What will happen in your session?

What does it mean to be good with money? As young as preschool, we start developing thoughts and emotions around money. Although it’s ever present in our lives, it’s still a taboo topic.

Let’s start the conversation - coming together to form an open source brainstorm where we creatively build finance capability through Hip Hop pedagogy and design thinking. We’ll work collaboratively to examine how finance education assessments can be more inclusive, personally relevant, and impactful for all ages. Through a freestyle exploration of open digital resources (including a prototype personality quiz developed in Open Leaders cohort 5) we’ll examine our relationship with money and the benefits we all gain from stepping in to have money talks.

What is the goal or outcome of your session?

We’ll facilitate the collective power of the community to further the design, sharing, and discussion around open personal finance assessment tools that are accessible and as impactful as possible. All the tools developed will be freely available for reuse and remixing.

This session is really at its heart about community contribution and interaction. Assessment is about reflecting on understanding and charting growth for ourselves and our learning communities. To create open and inclusive tools that accomplish that with the topic of finance we need to go open.

Time needed

60 mins

Love this! The hip hop pedagogy is an interesting twist because the industry idolizes having wealth and wasting wealth simultaneously.

Thank you for taking the time to submit a session to MozFest.

Due to the high level of submissions, we’re unable to accept all proposals and unfortunately, your session was not part of the final group.

You'll receive a follow up email from us in the next few days.
