Toggling the crosshair on for the first time sometimes provokes a crash

More specifically, an I_SignalHandler: Exit on Illegal storage access (Signal 11) kind of crash.
So far it has only happened when toggling it on by means of the crosshair toggle key, but that might be because that toggle's used much more frequently.
