    • I think my problem is NOT with youtube-dl
    • I've verified and i assure that I'm running youtube-dl-gui 0.4

Bug report

If the problem occurs when downloading a URL please provide the full verbose output as follows:

  1. Restart youtube-dl-gui
  2. Go to Options > Extra tab
  3. Enable Debug youtube-dl
  4. Go to Options > Advanced tab and Clear your log content
  5. Try to download the URL
  6. Copy the whole log content and insert it between the ``` part below
I have attempted to capture the log.  However it remains blank.

What operating system do you use ?

List of actions to perform to reproduce the problem:

  1. Left Click cog in upper right corner
  2. Select update
  3. See error 'Youtube-dl download failed [HTTP error 451: Unavailable For Legal Reasons]' at bottom

What is the expected behaviour ?

Download and install youtube-dl to be able to download videos.

What happens instead ?

error 'Youtube-dl download failed [HTTP error 451: Unavailable For Legal Reasons]' appears at bottom of window

I am rendered unable to download any videos as a result.

What operating system do you use ?

I have tried and got the same result on Windows 11, and Mac OS 14 Sonoma.

I am located in the united states and am unable to download videos. when the program tries to download youtube-dl I get an HTTP error 451. I have tried on 2 different computers and with the use of VPN to no avail. I am able to manually download youtube-dl.exe from the official github.

youtube-dl is abandoned. Use yt-dlp instead.

youtube-dl-gui is also abandoned. Use one of the many forks or alternatives instead, https://www.reddit.com/r/youtubedl/wiki/info-guis/
