Question about Customizing Lookout Detector in openCR

Hi Murray,
We have been analyzing whale data in the Azores using capture-recapture models with the secr package. Recently, based on the feedback of reviewers, we think now that it would be more appropriate to use an open population model with openCR instead. We have encountered a specific challenge regarding the customisation of a shore-based lookout detector.
We would like to integrate a custom position and detection probability for a shore-based lookout, which differs from the positions and detection probabilities of boats at sea. The lookout introduces a spatial bias due to its varying positions along the shore and due to its unique non-linear detection probability function, influenced by distance and island shadowing.
Could you kindly provide guidance or suggestions on how to approach this issue within the openCR framework? Specifically, we are looking for advice on how to:
- Define the lookout's position as a distinct spatial detector.
- Implement a custom detection function that accounts for distance and island shadowing effects.
We greatly appreciate any insights or recommendations you can offer. Thank you very much indeed.
