Full notes have a weird bump.

Closed this issue · 12 comments

Hey there, this might be just my screen but I get the feeling there is some kind of small bump on each of the full notes. The top also doesn't seem perfectly smooth, but it's less pronounced.

FullBumps

I should've been more specific. I'm talking about the inner borders of the full notes.

It seems to be this control point's "fault", on the bottom, at least :

Removing it with FontForge's "merge" makes it look like this :

I don't know if there are any repercussions to this, I'm not experienced in font editing.

@whos-lion No need - this will be attended to in due course in the next version (but thanks for your attention to detail!)

@Jojo-Schmitz Please don't @ me. I get notifications of all of these.

If I may ask, is there some transparent way of seeing how development is going?

I checked the github comments and pull-requests and figured this music font was canceled already, as nobody replied and nothing happened for ~3 months.

Internally speaking there's a backlog of stuff we want to do to it which is held up for all sorts of reasons. As it is this is a preliminary version (hence the version number) with a proper v1 intended to coincide with MuseScore 4.0, but with other issues including better compatibility with other software being addressed along the way. As there is so much work related to the initial design still incomplete I'll admit I've not been as engaged as I could be with the issues raised here on v0.5x (though they are all noted).

That lack of response and transparency is why I @ mentioned you...

Oktophonie: It would probably make commentors way more motivated if there was some response to their attemts to help improve the Font. It's a best practice on Github.

I suggest responding to every new issue as fast as possible, even if the response is somewhat general.

For example, you could copy&paste a reply like this...

Thank you for taking the time for filling out this issue!

Currently, we are held up due to [insert reason]. You will hear from us as soon as there there are news or advances regarding your issue.

...and this place may become more lively.

(In general, I suggesting also giving some feedback on whether the issue was accepted and on how fast it's planned to be implemented)

Apologies for the delay here. Fix to follow in 0.73(!)

Great to hear!
