Running Rsim: Different outputs using AB or RK4 method

After adding monthly adjust.forcing on Biomass parameter of primary producers, I run rsim and I find different dynamics using either AB or RK4 method. Is this an expected behavior or not? I read that the RK4 uses 4 time steps per month by default while the AB only uses 1 time step. I attach here two figures: the first refers to rsim.run with AB method and the second refers to rsim.run with RK4.
