Timezone information

Hello everyone! I have a question regarding time zones: As part of a StopPlace's Locale, I would like to report the local timezone. To make usage as easy as possible, I would like to make use of the IANA timezone identifier, Europe/Berlin in my case. However, I am unsure if this is the intended usage of the TimeZone attribute. Most examples use values like CET or GMT, but examples in the standards/nta directory - which were derived from GTFS data - use IANA identifiers like Europe/Dublin.
Is there any official recommendation here? (From a personal standpoint, I'd rather use IANA identifiers since users could also infer information like the date at which zones switch to daylight saving, which cannot be expressed with the other attributes like TimeZoneOffset, SummerTimeZoneOffset etc.).
My understanding is IANA too. But I am also puzzled with things like "SummerTimeZone"
