[Bug] Scheduled backups don't run as scheduled, instead launch on phone reboot

Opened this issue · 3 comments

Description
I have backups scheduled for every 3 days in the middle of the night (while charging). These do not run. Any time I reboot the phone (which is typically every few weeks), the scheduled backups will run.

Steps To Reproduce

  1. Set scheduled backups for every 3 days at 03:00
  2. Select all App type, Backup type, and Launchable
  3. Wait 3 days
  4. If no backup starts, reboot and wait a couple of minutes

Expected behavior
The backups will run every 3 days overnight.

System Information(please complete the following information):

  • Device: Pixel 4a
  • Android Version: 11
  • ROM: LineageOS lineage_sunfish-userdebug 11 RQ3A.211001.001 eng.unaudi.20230323.133730
  • App's Version: 8.3.6

For me, backup schedules stop after a few days and then restarts immediately when opening the app. Seems like the scheduler gets killed, but I have granted every permission I can think of to solve this (don't remove permissions after time, allow unrestricted battery usage).

  • Device: Fairphone 3
  • Android 14

Scheduled backup are completely broken (about since the app changed icon). For some time just opening the custom list menu would make the app crash, now it looks like that's fixed, but scheduled backups always fail.

What's the activity that runs? I'm wondering if I can use Tasker to schedule instead.
