As long as lua-ev & nixio compile and work on OSX, then lua-handlers will work. lua-handlers is pure Lua code.
I don't have a Mac to do testing on. If you are having problem with it on OSX, please report details about the errors.

A bit more info. I know that the author of lua-ev does development work on a Mac, so lua-ev atleast should work. That just leaves nixio, which should just work, but again I don't have any way to do testing.
