Square background on boom button

I'm trying to use this from the toolbar and after boom, the buttons have unexpected background. I have checked all backgrounds on all layouts, even tried setting them each to transparent.

I've narrowed it down to the actual boom button background, I'm not sure how to remove it as bmb.getBoomButtons() returns null. The only other way I was able to access it was the onBoomListener's onClick and that doesn't take effect until the button is clicked
