Two strategies:

1. Replace Bash scripting entirely, e.g. plumbum, sh
2. Use both, i.e. write helpers in Python that are called from Bash scripts

Put commands on a stack such that if the overall command fails, the program performs an "undo" on previously completed commands to return the system to a prior state?
