A user authenticated MVC website for managing a bakery's treats and assigning flavors in a many-to-many relationship.
- A code editor, such as VS Code
- Git installed
- Install .Net 6 SDK:
- Install MySqlWorkbench Follow installation instructions
- Clone or download this repository to your machine.
- Navigate to the local directory (YourPath/PierresTreats-main/PierresTreats) and create a new file "appsettings.json".
- Open the file in VS Code and add:

IMPORTANT: Be sure to replace your username, password, and name of your database for the fields [YOUR-USER-HERE], [YOUR-PASSWORD-HERE], AND [YOUR-DB-NAME].
- Create a .gitignore file and add "appsettings.json", "bin", and "obj" to the ignored file list.
- Open your shell (e.g., Terminal or GitBash) and add your .gitignore file and commit it before adding any other files.
- Navigate to this project's production directory called "PierresTreats".
- In the command line, run these commands in order
$ dotnet tool install --global dotnet-ef --version 6.0.0
$ dotnet ef migrations add Initial
$ dotnet ef migrations add AddItemsPriority
$ dotnet ef database update
(- Run this command anytime changes are made to the database -)
- Then, run the command
dotnet run
to compile and execute the console application. Optionally, you can rundotnet build
to compile this console app without running it. - Run
dotnet watch run
in the command line to start the project in development mode with a watcher. - Open the browser to https://localhost:5001. If you cannot access localhost:5001 it is likely because you have not configured a .NET developer security certificate for HTTPS.
