OnlyOffice (snap package) does not find installed printer

This issue is unique.
- I have used the search tool and did not find an issue describing my bug.
Operating System
Linux (DEB package)
Version information
6.4.2.6
Expected Behavior
FYI, I have installed onlyoffice-desktopeditors
as a snap package and not as a DEB package. Unfortunately, the snap package is not offered in the Operating System drop-down menu.
I wanted to print a document and clicked on the appropriate button in OnlyOffice.
Actual Behavior
My printer, an HP multifunction network printer with HPLIP driver installed, was not found by OnlyOffice. The only printer offered is Print to PDF.
Reproduction Steps
- Install the onlyoffice-desktopeditors snap package on Linux Mint 20.2
- Install an HP multifunction network printer with HPLIP driver
- Open a document in OnlyOffice
- Open the menu for printing the document
- Select the HP multifunction network printer for printing

Hi, that is your OS?
Could you try to install deb
or flatpak
or AppImage
version of DesktopEditors to make sure this problem actual only with snap
?
@ShockwaveNN Yes, Linux Mint is my operating system.
Both the flatpak
and AppImage
versions of DesktopEditors 6.4.2 find my installed HP multifunction network printer.
In that case I'll move it to correct repo
@matveevms Please take a look at that issue
Hello, @DarkPurpleKnight .
We are aware of this problem and are already working on fixing it, issue 52985 in our private issue tracker. I can suggest workaround, which may help you, connect cups-control with the command:
sudo snap connect onlyoffice-desktopeditors: cups-control: cups-control
@matveevms Thanks for the command, but its execution ends with the following error.
error: invalid value: "onlyoffice-desktopeditors:" (want snap:name or snap)
Sorry for the typo. Try the command:
sudo snap connect onlyoffice-desktopeditors:cups-control
@matveevms This command also results in the same error.
error: invalid value: "onlyoffice-desktopeditors:" (want snap:name or snap)
We clarified the information with the developers. The first command had a syntax error. Try this:
sudo snap connect onlyoffice-desktopeditors:cups-control :cups-control
If the error persists, send a screenshot with the command execution in the terminal.
@matveevms The execution of the latest command did not result in an error message.
OnlyOffice is now offering my HP multifunction network printer and printing with it works so far.
Thanks for the help.
I'm getting an error with Ubuntu 22.04 with the latest command...
error: snap "onlyoffice-desktopeditors" has no plug named "cups-control"
Same error here as @jonnypeace on Ubuntu 22.04 with latest patch level.
So it's impossible to print from Onlyoffice Snap...
Any idea @matveevms ?
same issue here. 22.04, latest stable snap release, no printers available
I have the same issue running Fedora 37.
same issue here. 22.04, latest stable snap release, no printers available
I checked today (installed the snap version) and issue seems to be gone
