Issue

Viewing the code of the ‘In Chelmsford’ paragraph element shows that the text of the section has been split across multiple lines. This causes screen reading software to read words individually and leads to a screen reader user being disorientated.

DAC 38 Current code ref

Screen reader comments:
“Using VoiceOver, I selected ‘Chelmsford’ from the first drop down, though the following behaviour seemed to occur with all selections.
I repeatedly swiped right after the heading ‘Chelmsford’ and found that text was initially spoken in small pieces.”

Suggested Solution

We advise that paragraphs are read as a whole by screen reading software. Splitting up words may be disorientating to some screen reader users.
