Multiple of 12 columns

My issue is regarding the documentation:
https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/fabric#/styles/web/layout

It says here that: "The columns in a row should add up to 12 for each device size".
However, i would expect it to also support a multiple of 12, so cells can effectively by under each other instead of next to each other.

When i try this it seems to work. Is this supported?
