Enforce `isort` in CI to minimise unnecessary code deltas

Should ignore example scripts, as they'll have imports that aren't installed by the package: config, ics; so may or may not be installed in a dev environment, which appears to give inconsistent isort results.

Closing the issue - if I work out how to do it, I'll get it working on my own fork first. But it's probably overkill to apply to one file anyway!
