Filament Sensor Odometer (Hardware)

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
My prints sometimes stop on a jam nozzle (Not filament runout)
I search for filament detection sensor and found only filament runout sensors.
And for a ocotpint plugin and found "FilamentManager".
Anywehere i read a hint that FilemantMeneger is able to use external sensors, is that true ?

Describe the solution you'd like
A hardware odometer, which also detect jam and runout, which is used by FilamentManager.

I build yesterday a own prototype of a FIlement sensor/odometer, which is able to add to octoprint
or works standalone with arduino microprozessor.
The Odometer works execlent, with filement foward and backward,
but i am not a pyton expert, so i request to integrate this into FilamentManger.

Describe alternatives you've considered
I see some optical sensors but they do not take care on filament turn back.
And see a wight sensor, this is possible solution, but i do not have that sensor here.

I am newbie on 3d development, so i am not sure if this is the right place ;-)
