"undefined" OLIDs are being sent in Open Library covers API calls

In the "Recommendations" page, some Open Library covers API calls are being made to https://covers.openlibrary.org/b/olid/undefined-S.jpg. The undefined in the resource should be an edition OLID.
The undefined API calls are causing 500 errors on OL's side, and are causing a broken images to be displayed on the form.
Proposed Solution:
If there is no cover image for a book, we should either display a placeholder image or no image at all.
