Allow Map Results to be a default option with a search list

Wondering if possible for a view to set map results to be displayed with search list by default?

This is not a complicated change technically speaking, but there are potentially unwanted consequences. Free use of Google Maps is limited, and auto-loading maps means there is a not insignificant chance that you will over-run your limits and have no maps at all until the usage limits reset. The hiding of maps is purposeful to protect requests that are made deliberately. Maps can be forced on links to specific search results using #SHOWMAP at the end of the URL,

So the answer is: yes, this can be done pretty easily. It would never be the default, because of the risk of over-running usage limits for free API use.

Did not know that Google Maps has a limited free use.
So no, would not want it to be a general default for a view for all types of search lists. Actually, it would be preferred/desirable to only 'default' for our two trail type search lists.
In your opinion, if the Trails API sustains a great deal of traffic searching these two lists, would it be likely we would still exceed that limit?

It's unlikely you would exceed the limit, but not impossible. We do always show maps on record details, for example, and it can all add up. It's also possible to set up billing for when you run over. I'm more concerned for the largest/busiest of the databases and people activating the feature without understanding the possible complications.
