screenshot rotator weird at start

I was looking at moving away from an animated screenshots gif from the homepage of my project www.AncientBeast.com and I recalled OpenRA does something similar using jquery. When I looked closer at the script, I noticed it's rather strange at start, fading multiple images rather fast or something, more noticeable in my test since I was using less screenies.
