Documentation missing

This repo used to have documentation for installation as well as a deploy script that loaded data. What was the rationale for removing it?
The docs were changed when we moved it to heroku. The fabfile is still there. You could also check the guy history.
Why not use mapit?

Mapit has no docs. I have no idea how to use it
