Use of etc/adminhtml/system.xml for config

Hi, I just installed this on Magento 2.2.3 and it looks to be pretty good.

I have a question about the use of the custom controller and database table to store the PCA account and access token config (as well as custom JS) though. Could this not be integrated in to the standard Magento2 system configuration using etc/adminhtml/system.xml ?

It works as is but would be good to understand the reasoning for this implementation rather than using the standard system config to achieve the same thing. Potentially I am overlooking something you ran in to whilst designing the module, I'd be glad to hear your thoughts.
