When through the code, but could not determine.

If I wanted to modify the placement of the pieces on the board, where would I look for this. I would like to see if I can set up puzzle to display pieces only around outside of puzzle canvas (where the final pieces sit), leaving the canvas empty on start.
Does this have the ability to determine which pieces are along the border of the puzzle so I could tag them?
