FEAT-112 Ability to apply templates to monster statblocks

crawltracker opened this issue · 0 comments

Information
Whether incorporated into the templates.html page of FEAT-110 or directly onto the bestiary (similar to the existing Weak/Elite buttons), this suggestion would add the capability to apply the effects of a template onto any given monster. That is, the template would remove what needs to be removed, add what needs to be added, and modify everything else appropriately. Bonus points if you can then 'save' this creature for later (much like the rune builder for items).

Note that monster names could/should be updated, e.g. "dire wolf" —> "ghost dire wolf" or "dire wolf ghost"

Who would use it?
Users.

How would it work?
Multiple ways to style this.

  • Add a 'Apply template' button to the submenu opened by the 📊 button, which lets you choose and apply a template from a list.
  • Copy the rune builder for items: add a button to the bottom which freezes the currently viewed monster and replaces the left-hand monster list with a list of templates instead. One can then click checkboxes to apply them (possibly multiple—will have to check how rules work).
  • A button on the templates page from FEAT-110 which either works like the rune-builder-esque idea above (but reversed—left-hand list now shows monsters, not templates), or a button that jumps to the bestiary with the templates added.

I imagine schematically it works with a fucctonne of _copy.

Why should this be added?
be one step above mothersite 😏
