"Either something went wrong or the account you used to login does not own Minecraft." with "GitHub" MS account

The mod prompts me to open https://www.microsoft.com/link, after doing so I enter the provided code and click "Next".
The website than continues to forward me to GitHub as this is the login provider for my MS account (this causes no issues with the official launcher). After this forwarding to login with GitHub the callback sends me to Microsoft's account page. There's really nothing more I can do there so after closing the window prompting me to open the link and login I am greeted by the error: "Either something went wrong or the account you used to login does not own Minecraft."
Am I doing something wrong? Is the mod not (currently) working with this specific account setup? Or some other issue?
It started working.
Did note it asked me for permissions which it had not done previously.
I also restarted my computer at some point between attempts, so maybe the oldest trick in the book was the solution...
