Material/Texture Issue with SMD files

I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or why this happens, I'm very very new to modeling and animation and stuff so I'm sorry if this is just my lack of knowledge.
I exported Mario's model from StudioSB as an SMD file, and when importing it into Blender I drag textures onto the materials and this happens:

The UVs might be flipped. It's hard to tell from the screenshot. If you only need to import to Blender, I'd recommend using the python importer instead that you can download from https://gitlab.com/ssbucarlos/io_scene_numdlb/-/tree/master.
