[PSC 001] Celebrations Classic Collection

Opened this issue · 2 comments

This is a similar issue to the one with Hidden Fates. The Classic Collection subset contains cards with their original set symbols, and this time, even the original collection numbers, which results, for example, there being 4 different cards # 15 in the Classic Collection.

Looking at different sites, I think I'm in the minority on this, but I don't think it makes much sense to refer to the Classic Collection cards as "Celebrations #[their original set number]". I've been using the hidden sort order as their Celebrations collection number, so e.g. Blastoise being "Celebrations Classic Collection #1", which feels more "correct", even if it technically isn't.

There are two things to think about.

  1. Should Celebrations Classic be its own set, or should it stay in the Celebrations set?
  2. Either way, how to order and number the cards?

The ETB booklet gives us a good idea of how the cards can be ordered. However the numbering is a different matter--both the ETB booklet and pokemon.com use the original set number as the number, which would lead to duplicates; Here Comes Team Rocket!, Rocket's Zapdos, and Claydol all have number 15! I do think as far as an API goes, being able to say "get me the 5th card of Celebrations Classic" is a useful thing (what @link--11 suggested), possibly even slightly more useful than "get me the 30th card of Celebrations" since you don't have to worry about offsetting by 25.

If we're voting at all, consider me a +1 for @link--11's approach unless someone can come up with something more elegant.

Downside to this: the identifier doesn't actually appear anywhere on the card. :(
