Need to make sure that the new theme works with Jupyter Book

The current theme works with vanilla Sphinx, but Jupyter Book uses Sphinx under the hood and may have additional expectations beyond vanilla Sphinx. There may need to be edits to ensure that this theme works with Jupyter Book.
