Finds a single item with pubpeer entries
Closed this issue · 8 comments
Out of my 15 000 item library it finds only a single pubpeer item.
But I know many of the papers that actually have pubpeer entries yet none of them show up in the column...
are there missing settings somewhere?
Using the latest release for Z7
nothing in the console
Turn on debug logging in the help menu, reproduce, send debug log to file.io from the help menu
Can you just clarify a bit I'm not sure what you mean by reproduce.
Install the plugin. Nothing happens.
Single item search returns
(3)(+0000119): HTTP POST https://pubpeer.com/v3/publications?dev succeeded with 200
but nothing ever happens except a notification that says it's searching.
executing command on multiple items return nothing in debug and nothing else happens.
- turn on debug logging (Help -> Debug output logging -> Enable)
- do what you expected to work but which doesn't
- select the items relevant to the problem
- send a debug log (Help -> Send debug log to file.io -> PubPeer)
You do realize the line I gave you is the only thing that shows up in the debug log. i.e. I've already turned on debugging, opened the debugger, executed the action, and copy pasted the code from the debugger here for you. that's all there is. the rest is utterly irrelevant.
maybe the reason your extension doesn't work is because you have no idea how to read or talk to people.
That's pretty rich, talking about being able to read, all the while being incapable of following the simplest of instructions.
You are asking my time to help you, and then feel entitled to dictate how I should go about doing this. You are not unique here. I meet a ton of people like you in my open source work; absolutely no clue how this plugin works, or how the debug log helps me with diagnosis and replication, but very obstinate about how things should be done.

If that is the extent of your diagnostic skills, I understand why you don't understand why I need this log. Have you considered that the plugin doesn't work for you because you are an intrinsically unpleasant person to interact with?
See? I too can use specious ad-hominems to make a non-argument. I don't see how this gets us closer to a diagnosis.
Do come back when you decide to be reasonable. I will be glad to help you then.
BTW my usual diagnostic process is to get a base state and then create bespoke versions that have more logging, and I would need debug logs from each of them. If you are this obstinate now, this is never going to work, and I don't need this kind of aggravation.

- I am not a mind reader. You provided zero information based on which I could be expected to "realize this".
- I do not want to waste my time mind reading/guessing at what you did or didn't do, or to decipher the information I need from fractured, uninformed user reports.
- I did not ask you to paste the log. I asked you to use the built-in tooling to send one. This reports also includes stuff like relevant settings.

That is not all there is. You just don't know what the debug log option does. You also seems to have decided you do know this without inquiring. Or looking at the source, if that's your thing.
If you are going to fix this, you get to decide what's relevant, but then you don't need me.
Since you're asking me to fix it (whatever "it" is, because you haven't given me any relevant information), I get to decide.
People like you are the bane of my existence. Entitled, rude, uninformed, incurious know-it-alls.
We all want the Zotero plugin to work and to work well, so we are grateful for user feedback. At the same time, we depend heavily upon motivated, skilled and desperately overextended developers like retorquere. Any remuneration we are able to offer them does not compensate at all for stressful interactions with users. The ultimate responsibility for functionality lies with us, PubPeer, not with the developers. Moreover, please remember that the PubPeer service and plugins are made available to the public for free.
So, just like on PubPeer itself, we shall be applying here a code of conduct whereby only factual interactions focused on the content are permitted. This discussion has been locked temporarily to ensure a cooling off period, but rest assured that we wish any problems to be resolved.
